  • Sunday Igboho: Obasanjo Reportedly Wades In, Travels To Benin Republic

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo travelled to Benin Republic in the first week of August in an attempt at mediating in the ongoing trial of Yoruba Nation activist, Sunday Adeyemo, otherwise known as Igboho.

According to TheCable, top sources in the diplomatic circles said the former president travelled to Zanzibar, an island in Tanzania on August 1 and rerouted to the Francophone country.

He was said to have travelled to Benin Republic on the guise of condoling with Nicephore Soglo who recently lost his wife – Roseline Soglo. Roseline died on July 25 at the age of 87 in Cotonou.

“He was to condole with former President Soglo who recently lost his wife.”

Another source who was also privy to Obasanjo’s trip said, “He also met with Patrice Talon. The purpose of the meeting was to seek soft-landing for Sunday Igboho. He’s asking the Beninese authorities to grant the separatist leader asylum, and not to return him to Nigeria.

“The former president intervened on the request of some South-West leaders.”

SaharaReporters had two weeks ago reported that Igboho was awaiting his fate at the Cour De’Appel De Cotonou, Benin Republic, following his arraignment by the authorities of the country.

A source had told SaharaReporters that the activist was not for extradition to Nigeria.

SaharaReporters had reported how Benin Republic police about four weeks ago arrested Igboho at Cardinal Bernardin International Airport in Cotonou, while trying to fly from the country to Germany.

The Department of State Services (DSS) had on July 1 raided the residence of the activist in Ibadan, Oyo state.

Igboho had planned a ”Yoruba Nation Rally” in Lagos two days before the raid.

The DSS raided the residence, killing two people and arresting 12 aides but Igboho escaped.

The agency alleged that Igboho was stockpiling weapons, and subsequently declared him wanted.

  • How 50-year-old Trader Was Gruesomely Raped, Murdered ,25-year-old Suspect Reveals

Two suspected rapists cum ritualists have given a graphic details of how they murdered a 50-year old trader in Umeh community in Isoko South Local Government Area of Delta State, Mrs. Patience KomoNe after luring her into bush.

According to the confession made by one of the suspects, the victim was initially dispossessed of her hard earned N40,000.00. As soon as she was murdered, they plucked out her eye, cut her private parts and abandoned her mutilated corpse on the bush path.

The incident happened on August 1 when she left for the market.

However, the following day, an alarm was raised which led to the mobilisation of security operatives to unravel the circumstances of her disappearance.

The efforts of the police, in conjunction with vigilante members paid off almost immediately as the motorcyclist, one Onos Simon who ferried her the previous day was nabbed.

Onos confessed that he and one Akpoghene murdered the victim after raping her in the bush where they took her to under the pretence that she would meet with pepper merchants.

Onos, who was paraded by the state Commissioner of Police, Ari Muhammed Ali, alongside other suspects, said Akpoghene asked him to take the woman to the end of the road to buy pepper.

The 25-year old suspect narrated his role in the rape and murder saga, saying that it was Akpoghene, now at large, that plucked the eyes and cut the private part which he sold for N100, 000.00.

Onos admitted that he received N50, 000 as his share of the proceeds from the human part sale, adding that he also got N20,000 from the N40,000 robbed from the deceased trader.

“My friend told me that at the end of the road, there were some women selling pepper, and that I should ferry one of them to the place. I took her to the place and I saw his motorcycle there. I called him and he said he was coming. I waited for him, and later he arrived. So three of us walked into the bush in search of the pepper merchants, but we didn’t see anybody.

“So the woman decided that we should return, that she wanted to go and buy from another place. The woman was in front followed by Akpoghene before myself. I discovered that Akpoghene was armed with a machete and I asked what he was using it for. He said he was going to use it for something. “We walked close to where we parked out bikes, Akpoghene now used the cutlass to strike the woman, and she fell on the ground.

“We swooped on her, wrestled with her on the ground before. Akpoghene made love with her before me before she died.

“Akpoghene searched her bag and found N40,000. He used the cutlass to pluck out her eyes and removed the private part. He told me that there was somebody in need of the human parts and that he was going to sell the partss to him. “We left with the bike. But as at the time I carried the woman, some persons saw us. When they were searching for the woman, I rushed to Akpoghene to brief him on the latest development, he assured me that nothing was going to happen.

“So they now accosted me to ask where I took her to, I told them that I took her to the end of the road. I told them what transpired and they started beating me. I did not mention Akpoghene,” he stated. Parading the suspect, CP Ali said the police were on the trail of the fleeing Akpoghene and one Lucky Daniel who allegedly bought the human parts. Ali said the police received the report of the missing Komore on August 2, and quickly mobilised operatives, vigilantes and community leaders who worked together in gathering information.

He said Onos was arrested on August 3, following a tip off, adding that it was the same Onos that carried the deceased on the fateful day that she disappeared.

“On interrogation, the suspect confessed to the killing of the missing woman in connivance with one Akpoghene Shoemaker, now at large. They raped her and robbed her of N40,000 before killing her, using a machete. Not only did they kill her, they also removed her eyes and private part for ritual purposes. The suspect confessed that one Lucky Daniel of Ohoro town contracted them to bring the body part for him after paying them N100,000.00. The decomposing corpse has been recovered and deposited in the mortuary,” Ali said.

  • Humility: God Once ‘Threatened’ Me, Pastor Adeboye Reveals Spiritual Encounter

General Overseer, Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye has revealed his spiritual encounter with God, adding that, God once threatened to wipe him out of the surface of the earth if he is ever proud.

Adeboye spoke on Thursday night at the church’s ongoing 69th Annual Convention Tagged ‘A New Wave Of Glory.’

The man of God, during his ministration said some people asked him, how could be humble considering all that God had done for him.

Adeboye said: “Without a doubt, God has been gracious to me, one of the topmost magazines in the world said I am one of the top fifty influential people in the world, God has been good. You still hear me saying sir to my driver because God loves me and He talks to me intimately.

“I will remind you of what happened after Lekki 98′ one of the biggest programs we ever held. We came back here at night, I was out praising God for the mighty things He had done between 2:00 am and 3:00 am, I knew the spot where I was, He said son, bend down, quickly I bent down and He said draw the figure of a man in the sand, quickly I did.

“And He said stand up, I did, He said wipe out what you have drawn with your leg, I did, He said son, if you ever forget who is the one in charge, I will wipe you out and nobody will ever remember you came into the world.

“Do you still want me to proud after that? You must conquer pride tonight.”

Adeboye has a message for those engaged in sexual lust.

“You lust after the opposite sex, there are people who will say once you are born again, you are a child of God and you can do what you like, fool around with the opposite sex, it doesn’t matter you will make it to heaven.

“I read it in the New Testament, 1 Corinthians 3:17, the Apostle of grace said you are the Temple of the Almighty God and you defile His Temple? He will destroy you. Do you think idolatry, fornication is something to be toiled with? When God destroys, He does a very good job because He is a consuming fire.

“God wants you to eat to have enough strength to continue to do the job. Some people have turned food to god, Philippians 3:19. Food for the belly, belly for food, both of them will be destroyed. Why do you groan when we announce a fast? How come you don’t shout for joy when I say we are going to fast?”
