Tinubu Gets Rare Access to Holy Kaabah as Sacred Doors Open for Nigerian President in Makkah

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has attracted widespread attention after being granted access to the interior of the Holy Kaabah in Makkah, Saudi Arabia, during his ongoing religious visit to the Kingdom.

The rare occasion was captured in a photograph showing the Nigerian President alongside Sheikh Dahlulah Muthawal of Masjid Haram and Ahmad Zafeer, identified as a State Protocol official in Jeddah, during the opening of the sacred structure for the President.

Access to the interior of the Holy Kaaba is a rare privilege, making the development a notable moment in Tinubu’s visit to Islam’s holiest city.

Tinubu arrived in Saudi Arabia on Thursday, October 29, 2026, to perform Umrah, the Lesser Hajj.

The President subsequently performed the Umrah rituals at Masjid al-Haram on Friday, October 30.

During the spiritual exercise, Tinubu offered prayers for Nigeria’s peace, unity, stability and prosperity.

The President’s visit has attracted attention, particularly following the reported opening of the Holy Kaaba for him.

The development has also generated interest among Nigerians and Muslims, given the religious significance of the sacred structure to Muslims across the world.
