Yilwatda to Lead Nigeria’s Delegation to Major Africa Governance Summit in Ghana
The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, is set to lead a high-level Nigerian delegation to the 7th Africa Public Sector Conference and Awards (APSCA 2026) in Accra, Ghana.
The major governance conference will hold from October 14 to 16, 2026, at the Kempinski Hotel Gold Coast City in Accra.
The conference is themed “Governance 2030: Delivering Resilient Institutions for a Digital, Green and Secure Africa.”
Yilwatda is expected to deliver the keynote address and lead a major discussion on how governing political parties can contribute to stronger institutions and better governance beyond elections.
His session is titled “The Party as Platform: How Governing Parties Can Architect Digital, Green and Secure Governance for 2030.”
APC to Showcase Nigeria’s Reforms
A major attraction of Nigeria’s participation will be the creation of a dedicated Nigeria Pavilion Expo Arena.
The pavilion will allow Nigeria’s ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs) to showcase government reforms, digital innovations and other initiatives to African and international participants.
The Nigerian delegation will also present a 15-minute documentary on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
The documentary is expected to be screened throughout the three-day conference as part of efforts to present Nigeria’s development programmes and reforms to a wider continental audience.
There will also be opportunities for Nigerian institutions to interact with their counterparts from other African countries and exchange ideas on governance and public-sector reforms.
What Yilwatda Said
Yilwatda described the conference as an important opportunity for Nigeria to share its experiences and aspirations with other African countries.
According to him, political parties should not only focus on winning elections but should also play a strategic role in shaping policies, supporting reforms and strengthening democratic institutions.
He said the APC sees APSCA 2026 as an opportunity to contribute to discussions on how Africa can build resilient, digitally enabled, environmentally sustainable, secure and prosperous societies by 2030.
The APC chairman, who previously served as Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, also said the event would enable Nigeria to present itself as a country developing ideas, institutions and solutions capable of contributing to Africa’s wider development.
Why Nigeria’s Participation Matters
For Nigeria, the conference provides an opportunity to showcase some of its ongoing reforms outside the country while engaging directly with policymakers and public-sector leaders from across Africa.
It will also give Nigerian government institutions an avenue to learn from governance practices in other African countries, particularly in areas such as digital government, public finance, energy, education and public-private partnerships.

APSCA 2026 is expected to attract public-sector leaders and other stakeholders from more than 10 African countries.

The organisers said the discussions would examine how African institutions can provide better public services and prepare for emerging economic, technological, environmental and security challenges.
Organiser Welcomes APC Participation
The Convener and Host of APSCA, Akin Naphtal, who is also Group Chief Executive Officer of InstinctWave Group, welcomed the APC’s participation.
Naphtal said having Nigeria’s ruling party and its national chairman participate directly in the conference would strengthen discussions around the role of political parties in building effective institutions.
He said the conference was designed to provide Africa with a platform to discuss governance challenges and develop practical solutions suited to the continent.
APSCA has previously held editions in countries including Rwanda, Botswana, South Africa, Ghana and Kenya.
The 2026 edition in Accra is expected to bring together government officials, political leaders, private-sector stakeholders and other development actors to discuss the future of governance in Africa.
