Seven-Day Countdown: INEC Opens 2026 Recruitment Portal for Graduates, Professionals (APPLY HERE)

Abuja, July 21, 2026 – The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has commenced its 2026 nationwide recruitment exercise, inviting qualified Nigerians to apply for several entry-level positions aimed at strengthening the country’s electoral management system.

The recruitment offers opportunities across different cadres, including Professional Cadre (Grade Levels 09, 10 and 12), Administrative Officer II (Registration Area Officer – Grade Level 08), and Executive Officer (Assistant Registration Area Officer – Grade Level 07).

Available Positions and Requirements

Professional Cadre (Lawyers, Clinical Officers, IT Officers, Engineers, Accountants and other professionals)

Applicants must possess a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant discipline from a recognized institution, professional certifications where applicable, a valid NYSC Discharge or Exemption Certificate, and demonstrate strong communication, analytical, problem-solving, and digital skills.

Administrative Officer II (Grade Level 08)

Candidates are required to hold a Bachelor’s degree, Higher National Diploma (HND), or equivalent qualification in the Social Sciences, Humanities, or Sciences. Applicants must also present an NYSC certificate and possess proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and data management.

Executive Officer (Grade Level 07)

Interested candidates must have a National Certificate in Education (NCE) or an equivalent qualification, basic computer literacy, and excellent organizational and administrative skills.

General Eligibility

To qualify for the recruitment, applicants must:

  • Be Nigerian citizens by birth or descent.
  • Be below 35 years of age.
  • Possess a valid Certificate of State of Origin.
  • Be medically fit and computer literate.
  • Have good character with no criminal record.
  • Be willing to work in any part of the country if deployed.

Application Process

INEC stressed that the recruitment exercise is completely free of charge, warning applicants against dealing with fraudsters or paying anyone for employment.

Applications must be submitted online only through the official INEC Recruitment Portal .

The application portal opened on Monday, July 20, 2026, and will close on Monday, July 27, 2026, giving interested applicants just one week to complete their submissions.

Prospective candidates are advised to visit the portal, click on the “Vacancies” section, complete the online application form, and upload all required credentials. INEC noted that only shortlisted applicants will proceed to the next stage of the recruitment process, while multiple applications or submission of false information will attract automatic disqualification.

Merit-Based Recruitment

The Commission emphasized that the exercise will be conducted strictly on merit based on the qualifications submitted by applicants. It also warned that no qualification upgrades or document replacements would be accepted after applications have been submitted.

According to INEC, the recruitment forms part of ongoing efforts to strengthen its workforce in key areas such as voter registration, election logistics, data management, and other critical electoral operations ahead of future elections.

Qualified young graduates and professionals are therefore encouraged to apply early before the application deadline expires.
