President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of 26 individuals into the boards and leadership of 10 federal government agencies and commissions, with former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose emerging as one of the most prominent beneficiaries after being named Chairman of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA).
The appointments, which take immediate effect, were announced on Monday, July 20, 2026, in a statement issued by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga. According to the Presidency, the appointments are part of efforts to strengthen governance, improve service delivery and reposition strategic government institutions to support the administration’s reform agenda.
Fayose Heads Rural Electrification Agency
One of the biggest surprises on the list is the appointment of former Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose as Chairman of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA).
He will lead the agency’s board alongside Alhaji Ahmadu Abubakar and Engineer Ilyasu Ibrahim Makinta, who were appointed as non-executive directors. The current Director-General of the agency, Abba Abubakar Aliyu, and three previously appointed executive directors will remain members of the board.
Major Changes at National Salary and Wages Commission
President Tinubu also reconstituted the National Salary and Wages Commission, appointing Major General Junaid Bindawa (Rtd.) as Chairman.
Former member of the House of Representatives, Olajumoke Okoya-Thomas, was appointed Secretary of the commission.
Other appointments into the commission include:
Dr. Ogbole Ene Lilian – Commissioner (Benue)
Oladele Olatubosun – Commissioner (Oyo)
Yakubu Umar Barde – Commissioner (Kaduna)
Dr. Mai Adamu Yau – Member (Borno)
Ginika Florence Tor – Member (Enugu)
Engineer Lawrence Okoh – Member (Edo)
Bello Morenike Iyabode – Member (Kogi)
In addition, Tosin Johnson Adeyanju, who previously served as Executive Secretary of the National Lottery Trust Fund, was redeployed as Secretary of the Revenue Mobilisation and Fiscal Commission.

The President also announced several appointments across strategic government institutions:
Dr. Abuh Mohammed – Director-General, National Population Commission (NPC)
Dr. Akinola Odeyemi – Managing Director, Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading (NBET) Plc
Dr. Anthony Inalegwu Godwin – Chairman/Chief Executive Officer, Nigeria Atomic Energy Commission
Engineer Julius Oloro – Chief Executive Officer, National Centre for Agricultural Mechanisation (NCAM), replacing the late Dr. A.R. Kamal
Shuni Muhammad Dahiru – Executive Secretary, National Commission for Mass Literacy, Adult and Non-Formal Education
Gisaor Vincent Iorja – Executive Director (Finance), Federal Housing Authority (FHA).
New Fiscal Responsibility Commission Board
President Tinubu equally constituted a new board for the Fiscal Responsibility Commission.

Mohammed Aliyu Makama – Member
Dr. Suleiman Gidado – Member
Louis O. Ndukwe – Member
Amaechi Ugwele – Member

Presidency Explains Appointments
According to the Presidency, all appointments take immediate effect and are intended to strengthen the leadership of key government agencies responsible for rural electrification, population management, electricity trading, agricultural mechanisation, fiscal responsibility, adult education, housing administration and public sector remuneration.
The latest appointments are part of President Tinubu’s ongoing restructuring of federal institutions aimed at improving efficiency, accelerating economic reforms and enhancing public service delivery across critical sectors.
