LAGOS, Nigeria — Six persons have been rescued following the collapse of a three-storey building in the Alakija area of Lagos State on Thursday.

The building reportedly caved in at about 11:40 a.m. near Alakija Bridge inward Satellite Town, trapping occupants and triggering panic among residents and commuters in the area. Emergency responders, security operatives, and local volunteers immediately launched a search-and-rescue operation to save those trapped beneath the rubble.
The rescued victims were pulled from the debris and attended to by emergency personnel, while efforts continued to ascertain whether more people remained trapped.
Authorities have yet to announce the cause of the collapse, while investigations are expected to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The latest incident has once again raised concerns over building safety and regulatory compliance in Lagos, where cases of structural failure have continued to pose significant risks to lives and property.
