Troops of the Nigerian Army under the Joint Task Force (JTF) North Central, operating through Operation SAVANNAH SHIELD (OPSS), have rescued two kidnap victims during a fighting patrol in Kwara State.

The operation, which took place on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, was carried out by troops deployed at Patrol Base Babasango. According to military authorities, the soldiers were conducting an aggressive patrol to Gidan Dogo Ekaa when they encountered two civilians who had escaped from their abductors.
The rescued victims were identified as 42-year-old Mr. Temitope Samuel and 40-year-old Mr. Mohammed Sani.
The victims were immediately secured and taken into protective custody by the troops before being moved to Patrol Base Babanla for medical attention and psychological support.
Military sources disclosed that arrangements are ongoing to reunite the rescued men with their families after necessary care and debriefing procedures.
The successful operation underscores the Nigerian Army’s continued offensive against kidnapping and other security threats across the North Central region under Operation SAVANNAH SHIELD.
The Army also praised the troops for their bravery and professionalism during the mission, while urging residents to continue supporting security agencies with credible and timely intelligence to enhance ongoing operations against criminal elements.
