Residents of Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, were thrown into panic on Wednesday morning after gunmen reportedly abducted the younger sister of former Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, alongside her twin sons.

The victims, identified as Mrs. Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul and her 12-year-old twin boys, Peter and Paul, were said to have been kidnapped around 7:30 a.m. in the Elewura area of Challenge, Ibadan, while she was taking the children to school.

Sources disclosed that the armed men intercepted the family’s vehicle, forcefully whisked them away, and fled to an unknown destination before security operatives could arrive at the scene.

Confirming the incident, Adelabu’s media aide, Femi Awogboro, described the development as unfortunate and disturbing, noting that security agencies had already launched investigations and rescue operations to ensure the safe return of the victims.

Family members and associates have appealed to the public to remain calm and avoid circulating unverified information that could jeopardize ongoing efforts by security operatives.

The latest abduction has further heightened concerns over rising insecurity and kidnapping incidents in parts of Oyo State, with residents calling for intensified security measures to protect lives and property.

As of the time of filing this report, no group had claimed responsibility for the abduction, while security agencies were yet to issue an official statement on the incident.
