Hon. Ismaeel Sodiq Opeyemi, popularly known as Elege, has officially emerged as the candidate of the Action Democratic Party (ADP) for the Ona Ara State Constituency seat in the Oyo State House of Assembly ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Elege secured the party’s ticket following the successful conduct of the ADP primary election held on Thursday, May 28, 2026, a development widely described by party supporters as a major milestone for the constituency.
Reacting to his emergence, the ADP candidate expressed profound gratitude to party leaders, executives, members, and supporters for the confidence reposed in him throughout the electoral process.
He also commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for providing what he described as a fair, credible, and transparent framework that ensured the smooth conduct of the primary election.
According to him, the victory was a collective achievement made possible through the dedication and support of stakeholders across Ona Ara Local Government and the Oyo State chapter of the party.
“I sincerely appreciate the unwavering support of our party executives at both the local government and state levels, as well as the commitment of party members and stakeholders who stood firmly with us throughout this journey,” Elege stated.
The candidate further thanked the people of Ona Ara Constituency for their trust and encouragement, assuring them of purposeful and people-oriented representation if elected into office.
He pledged to uphold integrity, transparency, accountability, and dedication in the discharge of his responsibilities, while promising to champion policies and initiatives that would improve the welfare and development of the constituency.
Elege also called for unity among residents and party faithful, stressing the need for collective efforts towards building a more prosperous and progressive Ona Ara Constituency.
“With unity, commitment, and the support of our people, we can achieve meaningful development and create a brighter future for Ona Ara,” he added.
His emergence as the ADP standard-bearer is expected to set the stage for an intense political contest in the constituency as preparations begin for the forthcoming elections.
