Oyo 2027: ADP Aspirant ELEGE Courts Traditional Support, Secures Royal Blessing in Ona Ara

As political realignments and grassroots consultations continue to shape the build-up to the next electoral cycle in Oyo State, House of Assembly aspirant, Ismaeel Sodiq Opeyemi, popularly known as ELEGE, has intensified efforts to consolidate local support across communities in Ona Ara.

The aspirant under the Action Democratic Party (ADP) on Saturday paid a royal courtesy visit to the Oba Alararo of Araromi–Aperin, Ward 1, where he received royal blessings and endorsement in support of his ambition to represent the constituency at the Oyo State House of Assembly.

The visit, attended by members of his political team and community stakeholders, underscored ELEGE’s growing grassroots engagement strategy amid evolving political dynamics in Oyo State, where aspirants have increasingly turned to traditional institutions and local leaders to strengthen their political structures ahead of future elections.

Observers say the development reflects the continued influence of monarchs and community leaders in mobilising political support, especially within grassroots politics in Ibadan and other parts of the state.

Speaking during the engagement, ELEGE reaffirmed his commitment to community development, youth empowerment and people-oriented representation, stressing that his political ambition is rooted in service to the people.

According to supporters at the event, the ADP aspirant has continued to gain popularity among residents due to his passion for infrastructural development and empowerment initiatives targeted at improving living conditions across the constituency.

Political watchers in Oyo note that the emergence of younger grassroots politicians and alternative party platforms may further reshape political conversations in the state as preparations gradually begin toward the next electoral contest.

The royal visit is also seen as a strategic move by the aspirant to deepen traditional and community-based alliances, considered critical in Oyo’s political landscape where local acceptance often plays a significant role in electoral success.

Residents who spoke after the meeting described ELEGE as a politician with strong community ties and visible interest in developmental projects capable of addressing pressing needs within the constituency.
