UTME 2026: JAMB Releases Day 1 Results Within 24 Hours, Candidates Await Scores

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced that results of candidates who sat for the first day of the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) will be released within 24 hours of the exam.

According to the examination body, candidates who wrote the test on Thursday, April 16, are expected to receive their results on Friday, April 17, marking a continuation of JAMB’s accelerated result-processing system.

The board disclosed that the results would be made available before midnight, assuring candidates that all necessary checks and verifications are being conducted to ensure accuracy and credibility.

This development underscores JAMB’s commitment to improving efficiency in its examination processes, significantly reducing the waiting period that previously stretched into days or weeks.

Candidates are advised to check their results via the official SMS channels by sending “UTMERESULT” to 55019 or 66019 using the phone number used during registration. The board emphasized that candidates must have sufficient airtime to access the service.

However, JAMB cautioned that slight delays may occur in some cases due to ongoing verification procedures, technical issues, or if a result has been flagged for further review.

The early release of results is expected to ease anxiety among candidates and set the pace for subsequent examination days as over two million candidates participate in this year’s UTME nationwide.
