Residents of Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, have been thrown into shock following the arrest of a 23-year-old man accused of the gruesome murder of a six-year-old girl in a case that has sparked widespread outrage.
The suspect, identified as Sodiq Kayode Akorede, was apprehended by operatives of the Oyo State Police Command after he was reportedly found in possession of the severed head of the child.

The tragic घटना occurred on Saturday, April 11, 2026, in Adigun Village, located in the Olorunda Ogunsola area of Ona-Ara Local Government Area.
According to police sources, the victim, identified as Mutiyatu Sunday, had earlier been declared missing before a disturbing discovery led to the suspect’s arrest.
Security operatives were swiftly deployed to the area following credible intelligence. Upon arrival, they recovered the remains of the young girl and took the suspect into custody.
Mob Action Averted
Eyewitnesses said the suspect was nearly lynched by an enraged mob before police intervened. He reportedly sustained injuries during the attempted mob attack and was rushed to a medical facility for treatment.
