The Federal Government of Nigeria has opened a fresh investment opportunity for Nigerians through its November 2026 Federal Government of Nigeria (FGN) Savings Bond, offering annual interest rates of 13.25 per cent and 14.25 per cent on two-year and three-year investment options, respectively.
The investment programme, issued through the Debt Management Office (DMO), allows individuals to lend money to the Federal Government and receive interest payments every three months while recovering their original capital at the end of the investment period.
The November offer provides an opportunity for salary earners, business owners, retirees and other interested Nigerians to earn regular investment income without directly participating in the stock market.
When Can Nigerians Invest?
According to the November 2026 offer, subscription opened on Monday, November 2, 2026, and will close on Friday, November 6, 2026.
The settlement date, when the bonds are issued and the investment is processed, is November 11, 2026.
Investors are therefore expected to complete their applications and payments within the subscription period.
The two investment options are:
- Two-year FGN Savings Bond: 13.25 per cent annual interest, maturing November 11, 2028.
- Three-year FGN Savings Bond: 14.25 per cent annual interest, maturing November 11, 2029.
Interest payments will be made quarterly throughout the investment period.

Investors who do not already have a Central Securities Clearing System (CSCS) account should note that one is required. The DMO subscription process provides for an account to be opened during subscription where necessary.
How Much Can You Invest?
The DMO has established the following investment limits:
- Minimum investment: ₦5,000.
- Additional investment: Multiples of ₦1,000.
- Maximum investment: ₦50 million.
- Face value per bond unit: ₦1,000.
This means Nigerians do not need millions of naira to participate in the investment programme.
How Much Interest Will Investors Earn?
Using the November 2026 rates, the following illustrates the expected quarterly interest payments:
| Investment | 2-year bond (13.25%) | 3-year bond (14.25%) |
|---|---|---|
| ₦50,000 | ₦1,656.25 | ₦1,781.25 |
| ₦100,000 | ₦3,312.50 | ₦3,562.50 |
| ₦200,000 | ₦6,625 | ₦7,125 |
| ₦500,000 | ₦16,562.50 | ₦17,812.50 |
| ₦1 million | ₦33,125 | ₦35,625 |
For instance, someone who invests ₦1 million in the three-year bond will receive approximately ₦35,625 every three months.
This amounts to ₦142,500 annually and ₦427,500 in total interest over three years.
At maturity, the original ₦1 million investment will also be returned.
These calculations are before any applicable deductions and assume the stated rate applies throughout the investment period.
When Will Investors Receive Their Interest?
Interest is paid every three months.
For the November 2026 offer, the scheduled quarterly payment dates are:
- February 11, 2027.
- May 11, 2027.
- August 11, 2027.
- November 11, 2027.
The quarterly payment cycle continues throughout the investment period.
The original investment is repaid at maturity.
Can Investors Withdraw Their Money Before Maturity?
Yes. Investors who need their money before the maturity date can sell their bonds through the secondary market on the Nigerian Exchange, using an authorised stockbroker.
However, the selling price may be higher or lower than the original amount invested, depending on market conditions.
Consequently, investors should consider their financial commitments before locking their money into a two-year or three-year investment.
Is the FG Savings Bond Safe?
FGN Savings Bonds are government-backed debt securities issued by the Debt Management Office on behalf of the Federal Government.
The government is obligated to pay the agreed interest and return the principal at maturity.
Nevertheless, investors should understand that inflation can reduce the purchasing power of their returns, while selling before maturity may expose them to market losses.
Also, the returns are technically called interest or coupon payments, not dividends, as dividends are generally associated with company shares.
