Nollywood Loses Another Actor 14 Days After Olu Jacobs’ Death

Nollywood has been thrown into mourning again following the death of actor Chijioke Nwokafor, popularly known as Cjay Nwoks, just two weeks after the passing of veteran actor Olu Jacobs.

Cjay Nwoks reportedly died on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, at a hospital in the Badore area of Lagos State.

The news was announced by actress Nkechi Blessing Sunday, who broke down while confirming the actor’s death in a video shared on Instagram.

According to reports, Blessing was at the hospital when Cjay was pronounced dead.

The actress had been preparing to release a new movie, Egusi Ogbono, in which Cjay featured as the lead actor. The film was scheduled to premiere at 5pm on Wednesday, but the release was cancelled following the actor’s death.

Blessing revealed that she had spoken with Cjay earlier that morning before receiving the devastating news of his death.

The sudden development reportedly shocked colleagues and members of the movie production team, with tributes subsequently pouring in from actors and fans.

Who Was Cjay Nwoks?

Cjay Nwoks, whose real name was Chijioke Temidayo Nwokafor, was an Anambra-born actor who began his professional acting career in 2021.

He featured in several Nollywood productions, including Larry Cold, Mum Overnight, A Day to My Wedding, The Lies She Tell and What Time Left.

The actor had recently spoken about his journey into the movie industry, recalling how his experience on a film set with filmmaker Ruth Kadiri inspired him to pursue acting professionally.

Cause Of Death Remains Unknown

As of October 1, 2026, neither Cjay’s family nor his colleagues had publicly disclosed the cause of his death.

Reports only indicate that he was pronounced dead at a hospital in Badore, Lagos. Funeral arrangements had also not been announced at the time of reporting.

Death Comes Amid Olu Jacobs’ Final Farewell

Cjay’s death occurred exactly 14 days after the death of Nollywood legend Olu Jacobs, who died on September 16, 2026, at the age of 84.

Jacobs’ family had scheduled his Night of Tributes for September 30, with his funeral service set for October 2 in Lagos.

The back-to-back losses have added another sombre moment to an already emotional period for Nigeria’s entertainment industry.

As colleagues and fans mourn Cjay Nwoks, tributes continue to emerge in remembrance of an actor whose professional journey, though relatively young, included appearances in several Nollywood productions.
