CDCFIB Opens Recruitment Portal for Drug Test as 30,000 Paramilitary Jobs Near Final Stage

Shortlisted Candidates to Obtain Screening Codes, Undergo Free NDLEA Test Before Collecting Appointment Letters

The Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) has announced plans to reopen its recruitment portal from October 28 to November 13, 2026, for candidates who have reached the oral interview stage of the ongoing paramilitary recruitment exercise to check their status and obtain codes for mandatory drug testing.

The development marks a major step towards the conclusion of the first phase of the Federal Government’s planned recruitment of 30,000 personnel into Nigeria’s four paramilitary agencies.

According to reports by Punch and Vanguard, the Secretary of the Board, Major General Abdulmalik Jibril (retd.), disclosed the development in Abuja on Thursday, October 22, 2026.

He explained that eligible candidates would be required to log in to the official recruitment portal, confirm their application status and obtain the necessary codes before proceeding to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for screening.

How Candidates Will Access the Drug Test

Candidates who have progressed to the oral interview stage are expected to follow these steps:

  1. Visit the official CDCFIB recruitment portal at https://recruitment.cdcfib.gov.ng.
  2. Log in and check their recruitment status when the portal reopens on October 28.
  3. Obtain the required code for the mandatory drug test.
  4. Visit the designated NDLEA office in their respective states to undergo the screening.
  5. Obtain their drug-test clearance certificate if they meet the requirements.

The Board said candidates who successfully complete the screening will proceed to Abuja for the collection of their appointment letters, subject to fulfilling all other recruitment requirements.

Drug Test Is Free — CDCFIB Warns Against Payment

The Board Secretary emphasised that the drug test would be conducted free of charge, with the Federal Government bearing the cost.

He warned candidates against paying individuals or intermediaries who might demand money under the guise of facilitating the screening or securing employment.

Candidates who are asked to pay for the mandatory test were advised to report such demands to the nearest security agency.

The screening is part of the Federal Government’s directive requiring prospective employees to provide evidence that they are free from illegal drug use before receiving their appointment letters.

Four Paramilitary Agencies Affected

The ongoing recruitment exercise covers four agencies under the Ministry of Interior:

  • Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).
  • Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS).
  • Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS).
  • Federal Fire Service (FFS).

The recruitment of 30,000 personnel represents the first phase of President Bola Tinubu’s broader plan to recruit 120,000 personnel into the four services during his first four-year tenure.

Important Notice to Candidates

Candidates should note that the October 28 to November 13 portal window is for eligible candidates to check their status and complete the prescribed drug-screening process. It is not an announcement of a fresh recruitment exercise.

Applicants are advised to rely on the official CDCFIB portal for instructions and avoid anyone promising guaranteed employment in exchange for money.

For candidates who have already completed the oral interview, the next important step is to check their status when the portal reopens and comply with the drug-testing requirements within the stipulated period.
