Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has rewarded the two best graduating students of Lagos State University (LASU) with ₦20 million each for their outstanding academic performances.
Sanwo-Olu announced the personal cash gifts on Wednesday during the university’s 29th and 30th combined convocation ceremonies held at the Ojo campus of the institution.
The beneficiaries are Ayilara Lawal Olawale, the overall best graduating student for the 2024/2025 academic session, and Adebanjo Samuel Oluolamide, who emerged as the best graduating student for the 2025/2026 session.
Olawale, a graduate of Project Management, finished with a 4.96 CGPA, earning a First Class degree, while Oluolamide, who studied Aerospace Engineering, graduated with a 4.97 CGPA, also with First Class honours.
The governor’s gesture means that a combined ₦40 million will go to the two outstanding graduates.
Oluolamide’s latest reward brings his total financial recognition for academic excellence to ₦30 million, following an earlier ₦10 million prize he received under the Sunbeth Excellence Partnership Programme.
The convocation ceremonies also saw the graduation of 20,604 students from the two academic sessions, with 494 students graduating with First Class honours.
The governor congratulated the graduating students and encouraged them to deploy their knowledge and skills toward the development of Lagos State and Nigeria.

The recognition of the students is expected to further encourage academic excellence among students of LASU and reinforce the importance of rewarding outstanding academic performance.
