The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has issued fresh guidelines to prospective corps members ahead of the commencement of the 2026 Batch B Stream II orientation exercise, warning them to comply with new mobilisation and safety requirements.
The directive, released on Monday, August 3, 2026, includes a mandatory requirement for prospective corps members to complete verification through the Nigeria Education Repository and Data Park (NERD) before they can be mobilised for national service.
The NYSC stated clearly that prospective corps members without NERD verification would not be mobilised, stressing: “No NERD, no NYSC.”
NYSC Warns Against Night Travel
The scheme also advised prospective corps members travelling to their assigned orientation camps to prioritise their safety and avoid travelling at night.
The warning comes as candidates begin preparations to report to camps across the country for the forthcoming orientation exercise.
Graduation Date Discrepancies Could Lead to Rejection
NYSC further warned that prospective corps members whose graduation dates on their call-up letters do not correspond with the dates contained in their statements of results may not be registered at the orientation camps.
Affected candidates have been advised to resolve such discrepancies with their institutions’ Student Affairs Officers before proceeding to camp.
Candidates Must Complete Documentation
Prospective corps members were also directed to complete all required documentation before arriving at camp.
The NYSC specifically instructed candidates to print and sign their registration forms and submit them during registration at the orientation camp.
Date-of-Birth Correction
For candidates seeking correction of their dates of birth, the NYSC said they are required to obtain a 19- or 20-digit WAEC Verification PIN and process the correction through their NYSC dashboard.
The process involves selecting the “Correction of Date of Birth” option, entering the WAEC Verification PIN, selecting the appropriate WAEC examination type and year, entering the examination number, and submitting the request after verification.

Prospective corps members for the 2026 Batch B Stream II exercise are therefore advised to:
- Complete their NERD verification before mobilisation.
- Check their call-up letters carefully for errors.
- Ensure their graduation dates correspond with their statements of results.
- Resolve discrepancies with their institutions before reporting to camp.
- Print and sign all required NYSC registration forms.
- Avoid travelling to orientation camps at night.
- Complete any required date-of-birth correction before proceeding to camp.
- Keep all necessary documents available for verification at the orientation camp.
The NYSC said strict compliance with the directives would help prospective corps members avoid registration and mobilisation difficulties during the orientation exercise.
The latest directive comes amid broader reforms aimed at strengthening the NYSC mobilisation process and improving the verification of academic credentials.The NERD requirement is particularly important: the Federal Government previously made NERD compliance mandatory for NYSC mobilisation and exemption, as part of efforts to tackle academic fraud and certificate falsification.
