LAGOS – July 6, 2026 – Nigerian music promoter and socialite Sam Larry has broken his silence from his hospital bed following the fatal road accident that left him seriously injured and claimed the life of his bouncer.
The accident occurred in the early hours of Saturday along the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, when the vehicle conveying Sam Larry reportedly collided with a trailer. The impact severely damaged the vehicle, while his security aide, identified as Wale, reportedly died at the scene.
Addressing growing speculation about his health, Sam Larry confirmed in a video recorded from the hospital that he is responding to treatment and expects to be discharged soon.
However, he disclosed that he is currently unable to walk and will have to rely on a wheelchair during his recovery.
«”I’m doing well. I’m expected to be discharged from the hospital soon. The only issue I’m facing right now is that I can’t walk, so I’ll be using a wheelchair, and God knows till when. But I’m grateful to be alive,” he said.»
His statement comes after widespread rumours circulated on social media claiming he had died from injuries sustained in the crash.
An associate, Akin Abolade, popularly known as Mr Lilgaga, dismissed the rumours, confirming that Sam Larry is alive and responding to treatment. He revealed that he spoke with the music promoter after the accident and described reports of his death as false.
While Sam Larry expressed gratitude for surviving the accident, he also lamented what he described as negative speculation surrounding the incident, insisting that “God knows the truth” about him.
Authorities have yet to release a detailed report on the cause of the crash, while no official statement has been issued regarding funeral arrangements for the deceased security aide.
The accident has generated widespread reactions online, with fans and colleagues sending prayers and goodwill messages for Sam Larry’s recovery while mourning the loss of his longtime bouncer.
