Workers’ Day: Ona Ara Aspirant Elege Salutes Labour Force, Promises Jobs and Economic Relief

An aspirant for the Oyo State House of Assembly under the Action Democratic Party (ADP), Ismaeel Sodiq Opeyemi Elege, has extended warm felicitations to workers across Ona Ara Constituency, praising their resilience and contributions to societal development.

In a statement issued to commemorate this year’s Workers’ Day, Elege described workers as the “backbone of society,” acknowledging the critical roles played by farmers, artisans, traders, teachers, civil servants, and young entrepreneurs in sustaining the local economy and driving growth.

He noted that despite prevailing economic challenges, the people of Ona Ara have continued to demonstrate determination and courage in their daily pursuits, contributing significantly to the progress of the constituency and Oyo State at large.

“Today is not just a public holiday, but a time to reflect on the dignity of labour and appreciate the sacrifices of our hardworking men and women,” he stated, commending their unwavering commitment to nation-building.

The ADP aspirant further emphasized the need for collective responsibility between leadership and citizens to foster a more inclusive society where opportunities and prosperity are accessible to all. He reaffirmed his commitment to championing policies that will create sustainable employment, support small businesses, and improve living standards if elected.

Elege also used the occasion to offer prayers for workers and their families, expressing hope for renewed strength, better opportunities, and improved wellbeing in the coming months.

He urged residents of Ona Ara to remain united and focused, stressing that lasting progress can only be achieved through cooperation, peace, and shared purpose.

Workers’ Day, celebrated annually on May 1, honours the contributions of workers and the labour movement, while also highlighting the need for improved welfare and equitable economic conditions.
