UTME Fraud Ring Busted as Police Arrest Suspects in Delta

Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force have arrested members of a suspected syndicate allegedly involved in malpractice and illegal activities linked to the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) in Delta State.

The suspects were reportedly apprehended during a coordinated operation following intelligence reports on activities aimed at compromising the integrity of the examination process.

According to security sources, items recovered from the suspects include electronic devices and materials believed to have been used in facilitating examination fraud for candidates during the ongoing UTME exercise.

Police authorities said investigations are ongoing to uncover the full network of the syndicate and identify other collaborators who may be involved in the illegal operation.

The development comes amid growing concerns over examination malpractice across the country, with authorities warning candidates and parents against patronising fraudulent groups promising “special assistance” during examinations.

Officials also reiterated the commitment of law enforcement agencies and examination bodies to ensuring credible and transparent conduct of UTME examinations nationwide.

Candidates have been advised to rely on hard work and lawful means to secure admission, while parents were urged to discourage their wards from engaging in any form of examination malpractice.
