Oyo Assembly Aspirant, Elege Urges Residents to Pray, Unite for Peace Amid Rising Insecurity

Ibadan, Oyo State – May 31, 2026

Hon. Ismaeel Sodiq Opeyemi, popularly known as Elege, the Action Democratic Party (ADP) candidate for the Oyo State House of Assembly, Ona Ara Constituency, has called on the people of Oyo State to turn to prayer and unity in the face of escalating insecurity.

Speaking through his weekly Sunday Prayer Initiative, Hon. Opeyemi expressed deep concern over the continued plight of abducted children and the general atmosphere of fear across the state. He urged citizens to intensify prayers for the safe return of the abducted students and teachers from the recent attack in Oriire Local Government Area.

“Prayer remains a powerful tool for healing, hope, and national development,” he said. “As we pray for the safe return of our children, let us also renew our commitment to unity, compassion, and community development. Together, we can build a stronger and greater Oyo State.”

The ADP chieftain stressed that the current security challenges require collective effort beyond political affiliations. He called on all stakeholders — traditional rulers, religious leaders, political actors, and citizens — to work together towards restoring peace and security in the state.

Hon. Opeyemi reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to the people of Ona Ara Constituency and Oyo State at large. He pledged to continue advocating for policies that will enhance security, promote youth development, and drive sustainable progress if elected.

“As leaders, we must prioritize the welfare and safety of our people,” he added. “The future of our children and the prosperity of our state depend on the actions we take today.”

This latest message comes as anxiety continues to mount over the fate of dozens of schoolchildren and teachers still held captive by gunmen who attacked schools in Oriire LGA earlier this month.
