Troops Arrest ISWAP Logistics Supplier in Borno, Tighten Grip on Terror Networks

Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have arrested a suspected logistics supplier for the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) during a coordinated operation in Borno State, intensifying efforts to dismantle terrorist support networks in the North-East.

According to counter-insurgency expert Zagazola Makama, the suspect was apprehended at about 11:23 a.m. on April 22 by troops of the 192 Battalion (Mechanised) deployed at E Company, Forward Operating Base (FOB) Pulka, under Operation Hadin Kai.

The suspect was apprehended in Jakana, within Konduga Local Government Area, following credible intelligence on activities linked to insurgent logistics. Military sources disclosed that the individual was allegedly responsible for supplying essential materials and provisions to ISWAP operating in the area.

The arrest forms part of ongoing offensives by troops under Operation Hadin Kai, aimed at crippling the operational backbone of terrorist groups by targeting their supply chains and local collaborators.

Security officials confirmed that the suspect is currently in custody and undergoing interrogation to extract actionable intelligence that could lead to further arrests and the dismantling of wider support networks.

In related operations, troops conducted clearance and cordon-and-search missions across parts of the state, recovering materials believed to be linked to criminal and insurgent activities. The sustained operations underscore the military’s renewed strategy of cutting off logistics channels that enable insurgents to sustain attacks.

The North-East region, particularly Borno, has remained a hotspot for insurgency involving ISWAP and Boko Haram factions. Analysts note that disrupting logistics suppliers is a critical component in weakening the fighting capacity of these groups and restoring stability to affected communities.

The Nigerian military has reiterated its commitment to sustaining pressure on insurgents while urging residents to continue providing timely and credible information to support ongoing operations.
