OAU Breaks Silence Over Viral Dress Codes For Students

Authorities of the Obafemi Awolowo University, OAU, have broken its silence over viral dress codes which was claimed to have emanated from the institution.

Reacting to the dress codes which has generated mixed reactions from the public, the Registrar of the varsity, K. A. Bakare, in a statement obtained by Vreporters on Friday said, the circular flying on the internet has no correlation with the one being drafted by the institution.

However, the school admits that, the management is of course, proposing to release dress codes for its students, but stated it clearly that, the one being prepared by the authorities is different from the one in circulation and will be released to the public in due course.

The newly released statement read in part, “Although, the council has approved dress codes for the students for the students of the University, what went viral was not document approved by Council. However, we do hope to release official dress code version in due course directed at enhancing academic sensibilities, social decency and ethical standards in line with the university’s motto, “for learning and culture”.
