Omotola , a penultimate student studying Demographic and Social Statistics is also the class representative of her level.
While feeding questions from the press, Omotola laid emphasis on her political aspirations, “I have always been passionate about serving my fellow students and also making positive impacts. The main reason for me going for this position is because, right from my part one days, I always want to help students even when I don’t know what I was doing.

“One thing I noticed then is that I have the zeal for helping others, especially in the academic aspect, and ensured that no one is left behind.
“There was a time that we had issues with results like SSC 105, SEA I immediately took necessary steps to resolve it. I want to network with the lecturer, and discuss the issues with him, and we were able to rectify it on time. So I feel like, that Vice Presidency, it has been like this since my part one, I must be there and I will be there.”
Omotola, highlighted further, ” Before I started realizing anything, my colleagues already noticed the leadership quality in me. So, they nominated me for the class rep. position, and I won.
“The qualities that made me standout as an aspiring candidate includes my experience. If you’re experienced in a particular field, it will require less struggle for the person to run the administration. And also, my communication skills and the ability to listen and understand people are top notch. Even when it’s not in my favour, I ensure that I listen and rectify people’s complaints; and if there’s a need for correction of ideology, I do my possible best.
“I believe if the Union has a platform where students lodge complaints on their pressing interests and wants, and the students witness the stress, struggle, and joy of fighting for them, then our burden will be lessified. Fighting for the students’ interests, to me, is the paramount key to the success of our administration.
“To be factual, as an aspiring president, my basic duty is centered on academic welfarism. Aside the student scoring a few points below the necessary grades, like 39 & 69, we should be able to find the means of rectifying these and ensure balance in students grades and a way to curb the problem of mass failure. Also, 7am classes, late hour classes, lecture free week violations, and the likes will not be allowed anymore.”
“For the issue of school fees payment and late registration, there will be a mode of sorting it out with the school management to ensure that students are able to pay these fees with ease.
“Working with other executive bodies, we’ll be able to bring many initiatives like meeting with alumnis, past leaders, and other possible means to ensure that students are not left behind.
” There are toilets in the faculties that are not being opened for students’ use, with the excuse ‘no water’, the issue of leaving students unattended to at the health center which is not supposed to be because these things are essential for students’ use; so we’ll work with the welfare director and other bodies to ensure better standards.”
