The Osun State governor, Ademola Adeleke, has settled medical bills of students of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, students in a lecture hall ceiling collapse on Thursday.
In a statement by his Commissioner for Education, Dipo Eluwole, the governor offered to foot the medical bills of the affected student, while sympathising “with the management of the university and the parents of the students.”
Mr Eluwole, who represented the governor, also visited the affected students in the hospital, lauding the school management for its prompt response to the incident.
On Thursday, Peoples Gazette reported that the ceiling of the Amphitheatre fell down while students were in lecture, injuring some students.
The management of the university attributed the incident to “torrential rainfall and whirlwind,” shutting down the lecture theatre following the incident.
