OAU Graduate, Nine Other Nationals Shortlisted For Journalism Award

A Young Nigerian journalist, Uthman Samad has been shortlisted for 2021 Thomson Foundation award for journalists blazing the trail in the media space.

Samad, a graduate of English and literary studies from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Nigeria, is the only Nigerian among ten young journalists shortlisted for the prestigious award.

Samad who currently works for Dataphyte as a multimedia journalist in Abuja has been passionate about journalism since his days in the university as a campus journalist.

The Young Journalist Award is considered as the premier prize for up-and-coming journalists from around the world.

The shortlisted entrants, who were selected from nearly 200 entries from 55 countries, include:

✓ Parth Nikhil, India
✓ Samad Uthman, Nigeria
✓ Shrouk Ghonim, Egypt
✓ Daniel Lutaaya, Uganda
✓ Kai Hui Wong, Malaysia
✓ Tatiana Pardo Ibarra, Colombia
✓ Md. Ibrahim Khalilullah, Bangladesh
✓ Mahima Jain, India
✓ Zuha Siddiqui, Pakistan

The winner will be announced on 29th November, 2021 at the FPA Awards ceremony in London after the final round of judging.
